Etsy

I have decided to give an online artists' community called Etsy a try at selling prints. It is always nice to be represented by a brick and mortar gallery, but I figure that online is a much more expansive audience. I do not have a feel yet as to how my pricing structure is going to fit in there, but I do know that the day after listing the first $500 print I had a buyer so apparently that was a fluke or it is hitting a good potential market!

What I Do

The Appalachian Lens is my collection of Fine art prints made in the Southeastern United States (primarily) and is a showcase of what life was or is like in the very, very American part of our nation. Most of the prints you see here will be black and white with some color. All of them are limited editions. The largest edition printing I do is ten prints and they are all signed and numbered and have a notarized certificate of authenticity. They are mounted on acid free, archival board and are sprayed with an anti-UV overspray. Prices of prints always go up after the artist dies - I'm not planning on that happening anytime soon so my pricing is reasonable. Sometimes I will sell, in addition to a series print, my working "Artist Proof" which I use as a reference to do all the other prints in the series. The prints are clearly marked "A/P" on the front and sometimes will sell for even more than a series print since there is only one of these. I produce 8-10 prints a year with an occasional smaller print included if I like the subject but don't see it as an edition quality print.
